Today, this is my second time ever that I write in a blog. First, I will tell you a little more information about me. I studied Industrial Engineering at University of Miami. I own a company with my sister, Valterina, the company started as a business and engineering consulting firm on June 1995. Thankfully, our company grows each year and we add a new service or product depending on the demand of our customers. As fun, we included our hobbies, arts and crafts, and had a good welcoming from our customers. Now it is our Division of Products at grupogherardi.com.
I must tell that many people, did not link engineering with art; however I remember my professor of Quality Control that said “engineering is an art,” and I totally support this idea and many of my friends in the class did not agree with that statement. Engineering is a profession of creativity, innovation, planning and deployment of projects in a company at least in the field I am, I have to recognize problems, read data and look for solutions. In addition, to enjoy having hobbies as all kind of crafts, arts and handmade products require creativity, innovation, and ability in the hands to plan and produce a fine product. Now, my customers were asking to teach them how to “macramé” fine jewelry and make chain maille fine jewelry. Therefore, we have introduced our classes in Miami as a test run. The first marathon classes were held on June 2008, and my sister taught those classes. Now, our second marathon is here and I must thank all that are already registered. It is my turn to teach the wonderful knots of macramé and the rings of chain maille. If you are in Miami, and wishes to attend just go to our web page and click on Division of classes. Thank you and I will write soon. …. Gloria
